Artistic Concepts by Carolyn

Daily blog of art in progress by Carolyn Needleman with personal comments by the artist. I primarily work in oil, because I enjoy the rich texture and buttery feel of the oil as I paint. You can manipulate oil to create color excitement, drama, mood and texture in a painting. There is a pleasure in creating a work of art from first draft to finished project that excites me and fills my fundamental need to create.

The studio work goes on. I have talked with several contractors to modify my studio to suit my needs. I have one more contractor to speak with then I can make a decision as what to do.

I have decided while I am waiting for the above to happen, to go through my extensive book collection. I will keep some and sell the rest of the books on ebay. There are a large collection of art instruction books, cook books, sewing books and gardening books. I need to simplify my life at this stage of the game.

If you are interested in any of the above, go to ebay and look up the seller artistnj.

Enjoy the view!

Well, things are going rather slowly, getting my studio back in shape. I have hit a few snags.
It will take me several weeks to get done. I underestimated what needed to be done. Such is life, ever optomistic I am.

I have two paintings up for sale on ebay this week. "Sugar Rush" and "Summer Bouquet." Please look for them under self representing artists.

Stay well and enjoy the view.

It's been about three weeks since I posted a note on my blog. I have been very busy, non art related.

I had a lot to do to get ready for the Jewish New Year. Cooking special holiday meals, cleaning the house and getting ready for the holiday. My daughter flew in from San Francisco for an extended week end with me, my son and his family. We visited together with our extended family and friends.

Now that the holidays are over, I need to get back to my art production and promotion of my art. Two pieces need to be finished. My oil still life and my pastel still life. I will update you more about them after this week end.

Enjoy the day and look for some sunshine!
